Introduction 

Unemployment is one of the major economics problems in Malaysia. Low employment is a never ending crisis that practically plague every country. However, the severity of the matter can be averted but can never be cast aside nor eliminated. The degree of unemployment indicates the economic situation of every country. Unemployment causes a waste of scarce economic resources and it indicates that the economic resources are not efficiently utilized of every country and it is same goes to Malaysia. In contrast, full employment implies the economy is operating in full capacity. Unemployment is a situation where a person is willing to work but remains unhired. “According to statistics released by Department of Statistics Malaysia, the unemployment up to May 2010 was 3.3 per cents representing 385800 persons” (Lai.W.S, 2011). Today, a great number graduates can hardly seek for a job, even to those with outstanding academic qualification. This implies the health of our country economic is not satisfying. 

  

Reasons we select this topic :



  • Every country is afflicted with the matter and the awareness of the issue must be increased for the betterment of our country. 
  • It is a situation where every graduates will be encountering regardless of the time frame seeing as it is a issue that will never come to an end. 
  • The opinion of the people of Malaysia can be expressed and known.



What do we want to address from this issue :



  • The level of awareness of the citizen on the issue.
  • The main cause of unemployment in Malaysia.
  • The opinions of the citizens in regards of the unemployment in Malaysia.
  • What action will the unemployed people take when the unemployment rate is high.
  • The efficiency of the government’s actions on solving this issue.
  • The citizens opinions on the Malaysian government efforts.
  • Actions Malaysian government should take upon to further decrease the issue.



Problem statement :

What is unemployment and the effect on society?
What action will unemployed people take when the unemployment rate is high?


Objective of the study:

To understand the definition and the causes of unemployment in Malaysia.
To analyze the citizen opinion on the unemployment rate in Malaysia. 
To study the people thoughts on the government efforts regarding the issue.


Limitation :

Giving out our survey forms to the right group of Malaysians in order to convey the survey on people who are graduating or those who have graduated.
Selecting and deciding the right time and the right location among group members in order to gather information needed and conduct the survey.
